Planescape is one of those games that you occasionally hear is really good and then you look up one screenshot and go “nope, I’m never playing that” and walk away and your life is worse for it. See our list of the best Resident Evil games or our guide to the Resident Evil games in order. The series' latest installment moves zombies to the backburner in favor of another form of flesh-eating enemy (lycans), yet Resident Evil illage earns its spot on this list for its world-class survival-horror gameplay and its late-game twist that pulls the undead back into the spotlight. Over 25 years after the original, Capcom still wears the industry’s survival-horror crown thanks to the continued excellence of Resident Evil. Turns out the zombies are rarely the real monsters. Everything from Fortnite to Rust owes DayZ a tremendous debt for its willingness to throw unarmed players into a hostile land with their fellow humans to see what happens next. Just how much fun can playing as a cowering, nearly powerless victim in a world full of lumbering AI zombies and ruthless human scavengers really be? Turns out it’s an addictively captivating and exhilarating experience. You simply never knew whether the next person you met was out to help or murder you. DayZ contrasted the surrealism of a zombie infestation with the hyperrealism of exposure, infection, hunger, and the degeneration of human nature in the face of disaster. The survival games genre owes a great debt to DayZ, which began life as a mod for military simulator ARMA II. The story lives up to its outrageous premise and is supported by fine-tuned sniping, gut-wrenching gore, and a killer soundtrack fitting of the finest ’80s horror flicks. Zombie Army brings the signature kill-cam into an alternate WWII, in which Nazis are raised from hell to chase the Allied troops out of Germany. With Zombie Army it’s the same idea, but the Nazis are zombies. Zombie Army 4: Dead Warĭeveloper Rebellion made a name for itself with the Sniper Elite series and its cringe-inducing, X-ray kill-cam, which lets players watch bullets rip through Nazi’s insides in super-gross, super-slow-motion. This level of depth is deeply rewarding for those with the patience to navigate these more mundane survival mechanics, which the developer continues to fine-tune with regular updates almost a decade after its release. It’s a systems-heavy zombie game in which all actions must be considered you’re not just fending off the undead but depression, starvation, and loneliness too. ![]() ![]() Thereby, the ice melts and entropy increases. For example, when we put a block of ice on a stove, these two make an integral part of a single isolated system. It states that any spontaneous change in an isolated system for irreversible reaction always leads towards increasing entropy. He documented a precise form of the Second law of thermodynamics through entropy. It was first coined by Rudolf Clausius, a German physicist. This term comes from Greek and means “a turning” point. This idea is derived from Thermodynamics, which explains the heat transfer mechanism in a system. The different types of enthalpy changes are:Įnthalpy of Formation: It is the amount of energy required when one mole of a compound is formed from its constituent elements.Įnthalpy of Combustion: It is the change in enthalpy when one mole of a compound is burnt completely in the presence of oxygen.Įnthalpy of Neutralization : It is the change in enthalpy when one gram equivalent of acid reacts with base and forms water.Įnthalpy of Hydrogenation: It is the change in enthalpy when one mole of an unsaturated organic compound reacts with excess hydrogen and becomes completely saturated.Įntropy is the measure of the disorder of the energy of a collection of particles. Also, it is to be noted that, the standard enthalpy change of combustion for hydrogen is the same as a change of formation of water. Following is an example of such a reaction.ĬH₄(g) + 2O₂(g) → CO₂(g) + 2H₂O(I) ΔH⁰c = - 890kJmol⁻¹įrom the above equation, it is proved that, whatever compound is burned, has to take 1 mole of its heat energy only. As burning always produces heat, the value of this change will be negative in all circumstances. It happens when in the presence of oxygen, 1 mole of any compound is completely burned. ![]() This reaction shows that to form 1 M of liquid water, 286 kJ heat evolves. That’s why the fraction in equations has to be there on the left-hand side. It happens when only 1 mole of product is formed in a reaction.ĢH₂(g) + ½ O₂(g) -→ H₂O(I) ΔH⁰f = -286kJmol⁻¹ĭon’t worry about fractions as 1 mole of water formed. For example, oxygen under standard conditions exists as both O₂ and ozone (O₃), but O₂ is more stable energetically hence it is oxygen’s standard state. However, in the case of allotropic elements, we have to consider the one which is the most energetically stable. Similarly, the standard state of oxygen is its gas form. It means that the standard state of water is in liquid form and not in ice or water vapour. In case of a reaction, all the physical and chemical states have to be in standard condition. The concentration of a solution has to be 1 mol dm⁻³. Instead, it is denoting that, if 2 moles of hydrogen gas reacts with 1 mole of oxygen gas, 2 moles of liquid water is made, and 572 kJ heat is created. If you observe the reaction, you will see that the energy is not at any specific substance. For example, record the standard enthalpy change in the reaction between H and O₂ to form water or H₂O.ĢH₂(g) + O₂(g) → 2H₂O(I) ΔH⁰ᵣ = -572kJmol⁻¹ In case of this change in a reaction the symbol will become ΔH⁰ᵣ. The symbol of standard enthalpy change is Delta H nought or H. These standard states are also denoted as “reference states”. It refers to a change in enthalpy that occurs in a reaction taking place under standard conditions and where the reactants are in a standard state. This change in enthalpy is represented by ΔH. Therefore, it requires some energy to break the bonds, and in return, some energy is released as well after the product is formed. It happens because, during a chemical reaction, some bonds of reactions need to be broken to produce the product. Hence, its own energy content gets low, according to the fundamental concept of energetics. The reason behind it is if a system participates in a reaction, it releases energy. Also, it is concluded that if the enthalpy decreases, a reaction is successful. The change of enthalpy in a reaction is almost equivalent to the energy gained or lost during a reaction. Where E is enthalpy, U is the internal energy of any system, P is pressure, and V is volume. The enthalpy is represented through the following equation. There are some molecules that take part in this change are called “ internal enthalpy ” and the molecules that do not are referred to as “external enthalpy”. For example, it increases when heat is added and decreases when heat is withdrawn from that system. ![]() Thereby, it changes when heat enters or leaves a system. It deals with the heat contained in any system. Relying on these two factors, a new product is formed through a standard reaction of several compounds.Įnthalpy is defined as a change in internal energy and volume at constant pressure. Both of them are partly related to each other in a reaction because the fundamental rule of any reaction is releasing or absorbing heat or energy. Enthalpy and Entropy are two significant terms related to thermodynamics. ![]() ![]() Various modern utilitarian objects have been modded by individual artisans into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style, and a number of visual and musical artists have been described as steampunk. Steampunk also refers to any of the artistic styles, clothing fashions, or subcultures that have developed from the aesthetics of steampunk fiction, Victorian-era fiction, art nouveau design, and films from the mid-20th century. The first known appearance of the term steampunk was in 1987, though it now retroactively refers to many works of fiction created as far back as the 1950s or earlier A popular subgenre is Japanese steampunk, consisting of steampunk-themed manga and anime, with steampunk elements having appeared in mainstream manga since the 1940s. The brake levers are fairly large and easy to reach with adjustable reach settings to accommodate small or large hands and people who ride with gloves. It’s roughly equivalent to Shimano Deore and is considered to be the upper end of entry level or the lower end of mid-level which fits the value pricing of the bike. And the 10-sprocket SRAM X7 drivetrain on this bike is a great choice because it offers enough steps to pedal comfortably at a range of speeds. It does bulge out a bit towards the front but doesn’t hang down lower than the 42 tooth chainring. Visually, the motor looks good with a silver metal base that matches the frame color. The fenders are plastic and won’t rust or bend the way that Steel and Aluminum might. It is not connected to the rack the way that some other fenders are and it doesn’t have an extra set of support arms at the middle which would keep it quieter. Yes, the fenders do rattle a little bit… the rear one especially. It produces a bit of whirring noise when operating, more at the higher RPM, but if you shift gears effectively I feel like it fades away with the sound of the tires on the road, through the sound of air passing, and a bit of fender rattle. Thankfully, the TranxZ motor responds fairly quickly in pedal assist mode and also cuts out fast when you stop. I like to use throttles to help get me started… especially on cadence sensing electric bikes which take a pedal rotation or two before the motor kicks in. The boost button sounds neat, but because it doesn’t become active until the bike is moving ~2 mph, I feel that it loses a lot of its potential value. It offers up to 63 Newton meters of torque and can be powered through cadence sensing pedal assist (by default) or a boost button throttle which is sold separately. Plus, you get a comprehensive two-year warranty from the Accell Group (which owns IZIP) and their systems use CAN bus which allows for fast, easy diagnostics by shops who sell the product.ĭriving this bike is a powerful mid-drive from TranzX called the M16. For the price, I see this is a very capable electric bicycle, and if you ride it thoughtfully, it should hold up well over time. Now the battery pack is removable and both wheels use quick release so maintenance and flat fixes aren’t such a hassle… so it’s a mixed bag. If you’re unable to shift smoothly, the chain, cassette, and derailleur will wear out faster and that goes for the display panel as well because it’s not removable. My biggest gripes center on the lack of shift sensing and brake lever motor inhibitors as well as the two-step on and off process. The 2017 IZIP E3 Dash weighs about 53 lbs, which I would consider good for having the fenders, rack, and a larger 48 volt battery pack. This is a huge deal for people like me who have a sensitive back and neck but also want a light weight frame. And the new Dash has a 65 mm air fork along with medium-width tires to really improve the comfort of your ride. ![]() I like that they added alloy guides on this chainring to keep the chain from bouncing off if you take the bike across a bumpy section of road. The motor is compact, relatively quit but not as quiet as Brose or Yamaha, and uses a standard sized chainring. Most other mid-drive ebikes I’ve been seeing form premium brands use Bosch, Yamaha, or Brose but the E3 Dash has gone with TranzX, probably to keep the cost down. This is a Class 3 Speed Pedelec capable of reaching ~28 mph top speeds and it uses a cadence sensor so you don’t have to work as hard to hit and maintain top speeds. While the 2017 version does not come in multiple colors, I feel like the silver and black looks professional and approaches unisex while also improving your visual footprint from the side. ![]() It looks great, is value priced, offers great urban accessories (fenders, integrated lights, and a rear rack in this case) and comes in several sizes for improved fit.
